‘Tasty January’ with Transition Town Brixton

Brixton Village market played host to ‘Tasty January’ today, with food tastings from local shops and businesses, and the particularly intriguing ‘I hate cabbage’ event, organised by Transition Town Brixton where seasonal cabbage recipes were put on trial.

Msmarmitelover‘s pop up restaurant was a particular highlight, serving up gorgeous vegetarian food in aid of the Haiti fund.

The Wayward Plant Registry were collecting Christmas trees with roots for a mass ‘re-forestation’ of Brixton.

There were musicians, poetry readings, a cake drawing competition for under 11s, and lots of information about sustainable city living.

The local transition town movement is gathering pace, I’m looking forward to finding out what Transition Town Tooting have in store for 2010.
