We used to have raspberries in the garden when I was little (some would argue nothing has changed). They’re easily one of my favourite fruits – fun to pick and everything, so I’m going to attempt to grow some. The planting instructions are:
“Plant in rows 38cm (15in) apart, leaving 1.8m (6ft) between. Choose a well drained, sunny or semi-shaded spot, dig in plenty of well-rotted compost or manure in the autumn. Create a frame work of posts and wires for easy training.”
Well compost is something I have by the bucket load thanks to the worms, so no trouble there. I’ve ordered some from Thompson and Morgan, in Suffolk. It’s not going to be the biggest raspberry patch ever by any means, but they should bear fruit by this time next year with any luck.
